  • Jon-Carlo Marras

    Principal

Jon-Carlo Marras brings a passion for architecture and art to his designs and a keen understanding of complex logistics to project management. Prior to co-founding Marras Lighting Design in 2013, he spent a number of years leading projects for Yale Moyer Lighting, a residential landscape lighting firm based in Southampton, New York. While there, he created designs for the homes of high-profile clients in the Hamptons, New York City and Mustique Island.

Before entering the lighting industry, Jon-Carlo studied finance at Baruch College and spent five years running a New York City-based special events firm he co-founded with his brother. A sports enthusiast and competitor at heart, Jon-Carlo was a former nationally ranked junior tennis player and amateur boxer, and is now an avid hiker and long distance trail runner.

  • Ryan Curtis

    Principal

Ryan Curtis’s extensive studies and background in music, physics, and mathematics form the unexpected foundation of his approach to lighting design. Similar to composition, he pursues concepts that convey the ideal tone, balance, and expression for the situation. As lighting becomes more technologically sophisticated, his knowledge of physics and mathematics enables him to craft exceptionally refined custom solutions.

Growing up and throughout his college years, Ryan spent summers and breaks working in carpentry, giving him practical experience with issues that construction and installation crews face in the field and the ability to anticipate and address them effectively. Ryan spent several years studying Percussion Performance and Music Theory at the Hartt School of Music before changing paths and earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics from SUNY New Paltz, and a MAT in Mathematics from Bard College.
